In an emergency
situation involving a child, it is common practice in Brazil to
contact your pediatrician first. They are available 24 hours a
day, seven days a week and will make house calls.
GENERAL HEALTH PRECAUTIONS

Consulate/American Chamber of Commerce/American Societe.
One of your first priorities upon arrival should
be to find a physician with whom you feel comfortable.
Good sources for medical help are friend, longer
term residents, your area Newcomers'rep and your
company. (See also listing of doctors in this section).
Be aware that in many offices the receptionist
does not speak English even if the doctor does.
